How We Treat

Our Exam Process

1.  We will discuss your needs, wants, and expectations, your history, your experience, and our focus will be on listening to your story.

2. We examine your head and neck with an emphasis on airway health, posture, and overall craniofacial structure.

3. We record your teeth with a mess-free digital impression.

4. We image your teeth, jaws, posture and airway with other photography, videography, and/or CT imaging.

5. We precisely record how much force your teeth apply to each other when chewing.

This comprehensive approach considers both the inputs and outputs of your entire musculoskeletal system in relation to breathing and sleep.  From this, we develop treatment recommendations—whether through our custom appliances or referrals to trusted specialists such as physical therapists, sleep experts, or other functional providers.

Struggling with Sleep, Breathing, Posture, and Overall Well-being?
Trust the diagnostic process!  Once we’ve identified root causes of your problems, we will recommend specific treatment options that target that. Our primary goal is to determine what is right for you.

We also consider your broader musculoskeletal health by incorporating insight from my training with the Postural Restoration Institute. This involves monitoring specific postural metrics and collaborating with interdisciplinary professionals as needed. An interdisciplinary team is the best way to ensure that any treatment aligns with your body’s functional goals.

Once we’ve identified the root causes, we recommend specific treatment options that target that. We strongly recommend you embrace the examination process and do not self-diagnose
which of our treatment options sounds the best to you. Our primary goal is to determine what is right for you. Trust the process!

i-CAT

We use an i-CAT (cone beam CT) scan to obtain a state-of-the-art, low-radiation, 3D image of your airway, jaw joint and surrounding structures. This detailed imaging allows us to precisely identify any narrowing or obstruction in your airway, guiding our recommendations for treatment to ensure the root cause is addressed. All images are also reviewed for pathology by radiologists.

Pediatric Guidance Devices & Expansive Options

For growing children, early intervention can have a major impact on facial development and airway health. We use pediatric guidance appliances or in some cases Rapid Palatal Expanders (RPEs), to gently widen the dental arches, encourage nasal breathing, and create the space necessary for proper tooth alignment as your child matures. These protocols typically require periodic visits over two years, which we offer the option to monitor remotely through the Toothpillow app.
